Lesson 6: Orbital Data

Knowing where we are is just as important as taking the photo.

Session Goals
  • Use astro_pi_orbit to get ISS coordinates.
  • Understand Latitude and Longitude.
  • Learn about EXIF metadata (tagging photos with location).

Why Coordinates Matter

The ISS orbits the Earth at approx 7.66 km/s. However, its altitude changes slightly, which affects its speed. Tagging our photos with location data helps us verify our calculations later.
