Mission Space Lab 2025/26 Briefing

Mission Overview

Welcome, Commander! Your team's mission is to write a Python program that will run on the Astro Pi computers aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The Objective: Calculate the speed at which the ISS is travelling using data gathered from the Astro Pi's sensors and visual light camera.

Mission Constraints

  • ⏱️ Runtime: Max 10 minutes
  • 💾 Output: result.txt with speed in km/s
  • 📸 Images: Max 42 photos stored
  • 📦 Data Limit: Max 250MB total storage
  • 🐍 Python: Version 3.11+

Available Hardware

  • 🖥️ Computer: Raspberry Pi 4 (8GB RAM)
  • 🌡️ Sense HAT V2: Temp, Humidity, Gyro, Magnetometer, Accelerometer, Light/Color
  • 📷 Camera: High Quality Camera (5mm lens)
